As a regular guest of the Orchestra Nazionale dell'Accademia di Santa Cecilia, in March Mr. Steinberg has conducted 3 concerts in Rome. Program included the only Beethoven’s oratorio Christus am Oelberg and blew away preconceptions of this piece as anything less than a masterpiece. As critics wrote, Mr. Steinberg conducted a performance of tremendous emotional impact. Following his successful collaboration with the Cleveland Orchestra, on April 3 and 4 Mr. Steinberg returned to the United States for the second time this year to perform with the Orchestra in Miami, earning outstanding reviews (please see press quotes).
